Martien is Managing Partner and CFO at Forbion. Martien’s investment focus is on the Medical Devices business.
Martien joined ABN AMRO Private Equity in 1998, focusing on minority equity stakes in small and medium sized businesses in the Dutch market. Prior to this Martien worked as a Senior Analyst in Group Planning and Control at ABN AMRO Bank NV, where he implemented new tools for credit pricing and country risk management. He joined the Life Sciences team of ABN AMRO Capital in 2000 as an investment director. He developed the investment strategy for Medical Devices with a focus on Interventional Cardiology by expanding into the ATI (Accelerating Technologies Inc) formula.
Martien has taken board seats in all ATI investments including FlowMedica, X-Cell Medical, Mitralign, Circulite and Pathway Medical. He also holds a Board seat at SantarisPharma, NiTi Surgical Solutions and PneumRx.
Previously, Martien served on the board of ImpellaCardiosystems (sold to ABIOMED in 2005) and Acadia (IPO in 2004).
Martien received his Master’s Degree in Econometrics at the University of Groningen, The Netherlands.Martien began his career at EDON NV, as assistant to the CFO in the Cable and Telecoms business unit.
