As Principal at Forbion Capital Partners, Christina is responsible for scouting of new investment opportunities as well as for their scientific/ technical analysis and monitoring. In addition she assists portfolio companies with their pre-clinical and research programs. Prior to her role at Forbion, Christina held the position of Principal at ABN AMRO Capital Life Sciences, where she assessed over 150 investment opportunities per year.
Whilst at ABN AMRO, Christina coordinated due diligence for the international syndicates in Xention, Santaris Pharma and Amsterdam Molecular Therapeutics, for which ABN AMRO acted as lead investor. During the due diligence for Xention she recruited and worked with Prof. Dr. John Camm, a world renowned expert in atrial fibrillation. Dr. Camm later became a clinical advisor to the company.
In addition, Christina serves on the supervisory board of Pieris AG (Germany), and was an observer on the board of GlycArt (Switzerland) prior to its sale to Roche in 2005. As Christina has maintained her contact with research universities and their technology transfer centers, Forbion are in the position to identify promising new technologies and business opportunities at their very early stages. Christina joined ABN AMRO Capital Life Sciences in September, 2000.
Prior to ABN AMRO, Christina worked with Bio-Gen-Tec-NRW, a regional development organization for biotechnology based in Cologne, Germany. Here she evaluated business proposals and assisted companies in the fundraising process.
Christina began her scientific career with a master’s degree in biology from the Technical University of Darmstadt. She subsequently joined the group of Prof Dr, Campos-Ortega at the Institute of Development Biology of the University of Cologne, where she studied the Delta-Notch signalling pathway and its role during zebra fish neurogenesis and early somite development.
